A Site For Retirement Homes

I used to oppose against the idea of putting our elder love-ones in a retirement homes where they are being cared for by the skilled hands. For me it was like being ungrateful to our parents or relatives, knowing that they were taking care of us when we need them, and now, I believe that it should be our turn to take care of them. But after months of staying here in USA, somehow, I fully understand how placing our older love-ones in a retirement home is considered as a good option on both parties. They don’t want to be a burden to everybody, and also… they don’t want to lose their dependence on their selves. I can’t blame them, especially if they have been living dependent to their selves for a long time, which are very common here in USA.
.
If you need to more about retirement homes , I suggest that you visit the website of SeniorPolis.com. This website contains a detailed database of retirement homes across Canada as well as articles, information, links to resources for seniors, posting of special events, open houses and workshops. Their site gives link on each provincial site that will take you to some of National pages. With a database of over 2400 retirement residences in Canada and detailed information on many of them, their goal is to be the most comprehensive source of information about retirement homes and retirement living in Canada.
.
If you are looking for retirement communities , use their search feature “the right home”, and it will lead you to all cities of Canada and various provinces, most specifically Ontario, BC, Manitoba, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Quebec. They are looking for both seniors and professionals to work with them, and encourage advertisers/companies to become part of their site in providing service to seniors across the country.

I Am A "Fili-Billy"

My mom-in-law and dad-in-law love to tease me for being a "Fili-Billy". They love the sound of it. They love spreading the humorous rumors about it. "Fili-Billy" is their own invented word which means I am a "Filipino" and "Hillbilly" in one word. They consider themselves being a "Hillbilly" because they came from the south.
.
"Filipino" people refers to nationals of the Republic of the Philippines and to persons having Filipino ancestry. The name Filipino was derived from king Philip II of Spain, the Spanish name given to the Philippines in the 16th century, by Spanish explorer Ruy López de Villalobos. There are about 92 million Filipinos in the Philippinesand about 11 million outside the Philippines.
.
"Hillbilly" is a term referring to people who dwell in rural, mountainous areas of the United States, primarily Appalachia and the Ozarks. Due to its strongly stereotypical connotations, the term is frequently considered derogatory, and so is usually offensive to those Americans of Ozarkan and Appalachian heritage. However, the term is also used in celebration of their culture by mountain people themselves. Such co-opting and neutralizing use is almost exclusively reserved for Appalachian people themselves. Such people consider the term "Hillbilly" to be a descriptive term lumping all such inhabitants together in a single ethnic group similar to the term Cajun as a description of a uniquely American ethnic group.

Custom Shirt For Family Reunions

Two family reunions are up-coming from both sides of my husband’s parents. I am looking forward to that with excitement. I am very anxious to meet all the rest of my husband’s relatives that I had not met before. Family reunions are always fun.
.
Talking about family reunion, distributing of custom shirts with the clan’s name and the date of the celebration on it would be a good idea. I believe that somebody else had done this. It would be cool to see everybody in the reunion wearing the shirt with color coding according to family groups.

Having Problem With Algebra? Get A Tutor.

It is almost back-to-school again. I miss being in school. I miss straining my brain with numbers. When I was still in school, subjects that related with science and calculation such as Algebra, Geometry, Physics, Logarithm, ect., were my favorite subject. Opps, don’t get me wrong. Although they were my favorite, but they were not my highest rated subjects. I just find it very challenging memorizing the right formula. Talking about Algebra, it has huge applications in real life and it is also helpful in solving problems in Physics, Chemistry and Statistics. However, I believe that it has to do with the way the professor explained it. If he or she explained it in a boring way, there is no way that we will love and learn the subject. Your only chance would be in the self-study.
.
Talking about self-study; today’s students have the advantage of internet. If you need an Algebra tutoring , Tutor Vista is an interactive way to learn. Its online tutoring is done using an interactive whiteboard to work problems, simulations, assessments and other tasks. Their sessions are just like working face to face with a tutor. They are just more convenient and fun. Since Algebra is pivotal in branching out to other fields, it is important to get the best Algebra help in studying the subject right from the formative years.
.
Avail of their free online Algebra help . The advantage with this site is that you can connect with online Algebra tutor using your PC and get personalized attention and one-on-one tutoring at a fraction of what a learning centre will cost you. Blueberry Harvest

We were at the neighbor's farm this afternoon to harvest blueberries. U-Pick Blueberries for $1.25 a pound. The blueberry patch was so, so, so wide that a lot of people went there to pick, too. For every 20 blueberries that I picked, 5 goes to my mouth. (he-he-he, I suppose that the owner assumed that already). I was really enjoying this day's activity. This is something that I have been looking forward to do on summer.
.
I told my best friend in Cebu that I was harvesting blueberries this afternoon, and her question was "how much I made?". I was laughing. I know she thought that I was talking about Facebook farming game. I told her, "I was harvesting real blueberries this afternoon. I mean, real farm!" We were both laughing. We have been hooked up with this Facebook farming game for a week now already, and we enjoyed the game very much. But there is nothing more enjoyable than the real thing.
.
As I am posting this now, I have a glass of blueberry-banana milkshake on my table. I love it and it is healthy.

Thankful Thursday -Let The Thanksgiving Overflow

I apologize for late posting of my Thankful Thursday; something keep me busy and wore me out, too. But Thankful Thursday is something that I should not miss because this gives glory to our God. For after all, we owe so much to God that the least we can do to Him is to thank Him and give Him the glory for everything.
.
"All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God." 2 Corinthians 4:15 NIV
.
...I thank God for the abundant of produces we have in our garden.
...I thank God for the chance of bonding together between us (my husband and I) and our grandkids.
...I thank God for the good health and safety wherever we go.
...I thank God that He is patience in us and is lovingly teaching us the right way to do.
...I thank God for His the blessings, loving-kindness and grace He showered on us day by day.
...I thank God for enabling me to make money by providing me sponsors.
...I thank God for the daily bread.
...I thank God for the chance to express His goodness and amazing grace in my life.
.
Giving thanks to God is more than just words; it is also in action and in thoughts. Every single things around us and in us are chances to give thanks to God. Let us honor God everyday, but let us set aside Thursday as a special thanksgiving day to God, for He deserves the glory.

Tuscola County Fair

My husband and I, together with our grandkids, Ciara and Corbin, went to the Tuscola County Fair yesterday. These shirts were "give-aways" for kids under 12 years old. That's cool.
...
...
...
...
These were the rides in the fair. There were a couple more that I missed to take picture, along with some of the treats and games. Of all rides, I only had the "Merry-Go-Round" because that's the slowest of them all. I can't handle rapid and fast motion. I easily get dizzy and might throw up or it might give me headache later. It was always my husband who accompanied the kids on the rides (if they needed to be accompanied).
.
I tried the "Glass City" out of curiosity, and because it was something that I have seen on horror movie for a lot of times. I had to help a lot of people in there find their way out because they started to get panic. It was fun though.

This ride is called the "Mega Shot", and according to my husband, this one was the most scariest ride he had on. "It scares the crap out of me!" It slowly carried them upward for about a couple of minutes and once they were up there, but going down was rapid, it took them down for only a couple of seconds. Can you imagine?

It was such a great day. I love events like this. Foods, rides, games and animals. The weather was great, too. We thanked God for the perfect day that was. And we thanked God also for the chance of bonding with our grandkids. They only come here in Michigan to visit.

The True Comfort Food

When I was still in the Philippines, there were times that I feel depressed (must be the cycle of my body), the only thing I would love to turn to are the fruits and my favorite Dove dark chocolates. These are my comfort food. I love the phrase "comfort food." It speaks of the things that are so good, so familiar, so right, that they can always bring a smile to our face or elevate our feelings from being blue to cheerfulness. Those are the foods that speak to me and say that all is well with the world.
.
But who are we deceiving? Yes, I know. I was deceiving myself. I know that all is not well with the world, and no amount of fresh fruits and chocolates can make it right. Real comfort is not the byproduct of specific foods any more than it is the result of alcohol or drugs or money or pleausre or power. It is a much deeper need that requires a much deeper solution.
.
Romans 15:4 says: "Whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope." God has given us His Word to draw us to Himself. Through a relationship with Him, He provides the comfort we need to live in a broken world.
.
"God's Word is a life preserver that keeps the soul from sinking in a sea of trouble"

Bad Credit Solutions

It is so sad that just because of a previous bad choice, everything that concerns about his future is shattered. I am talking about a bad credit record. I personally know a person with a couple of bad marriages that ended up to divorces, a child support, a sequestering of properties, a huge medical bill, disability to work and a large credit bill with huge interest. These things can be enough to crash anybody’s life. And sad to say, the most difficult part would be on how to start all over again. He used to be good in business but he needs a loan to begin with and the problem is his previous bad credit records will likely to turn down his business loan application.
.
In USA alone, thousands of people have to deal with the headaches of bad credit. There are a lot of advertisements that offers to clean credit . A careful review should be made before engaging on them. If you are one of the people who needs it, let me share to you this site; RepairYourBadCredit.com. Raspberry Jellies

My mom-in-law and I were making Raspberry Jellies yesterday. The raspberries were actually from our garden, too. That is the good thing with having produces from own garden, we can take advantage of them and we can even share them to others. We made 15 jars and we give some to neighbors, friends and to some family members. The jellies are so good that I can actually eat the whole content from the jar.
.
The raspberry (plural, raspberries) is the edible fruit of a multitude of plant species in the subgenus Idaeobatus of the genus Rubus; the name also applies to these plants themselves. The name originally referred to the European species Rubus idaeus (with red fruit) still used as its standard English name.

Are You Looking For Highest CD Rates?

My husband and I were talking about ways on how we will survive on financial aspect for the meantime that both of us don’t have work. I mean, we will be moving to Florida on the first week of September. We can’t assume that both of us can get job right away. And that was how we come up with the idea of placing some of our money on the bank for CD’s. We were surfing on the net to find out what bank offers for the highest CD rates . Fortunately, we found this site, MonitorBankRates.com; it is about reviews of bank’s CD rates. If you are interested on this, too, check on their site.

Spiritual Weary Days

There are times that though I have a problem, and of course, I know that prayers is the best way on solving it, but... but I don't feel the need to pray. I feel like I just want to wait and see what will happen. Que Sera, Sera. Stubborness? Unbelief? Whatever! I believe that God often does His work through prayers, yet sometimes, I tend to approach the problem with "come what may". And that is not how God wants us to approach the problem.
.
To the glory of God, I am boastful to say that I have so many answered prayers, some of them were instant and some of them were answered after years of faithful praying. God take pleasure in answering our prayers if it brings glory to His son, Jesus Christ.
.
Yes, I know a lot about the power of prayer, but I don't know why I don't feel like praying on this certain "problem" that I am facing right now. I don't know... I really don't know. Or maybe I am weary nowadays because it has been more than three months that I did not do my monthly "whole day prayer and fasting" (because the guest room that I used for that particular purpose has been occupied for more than 3 months, too.) Please pray for me. I need somebody to enlighten me on this. I can accept a rebuke, too, if that would be for my good. Thank you very much in advance.

Plan Your Christmas Shopping Early

When I was still in the Philippines, I used to start purchasing items for Christmas gift by the month of September. I love buying gifts and giving them away, but I hate doing that when I have too little time left to do it. I hate rushing. It has the big tendency of spending too much than what was planned. That was how I come up with that idea of starting the purchase by the month of September, and when December comes, all I need to do was wrapping. Also, the reason why I started to purchase for Christmas gifts so early because stores, stalls and malls are on sales starting September. It made me save a lot. Ain’t that smart?
.
Talking about early Christmas shopping, let me share to you something cool; if you want big saving for Christmas gifts, purchase them on the Friday after Thanksgiving, or what is known as the Black Friday. I did that last year, too. It was fun and the deals were great. Here, I give you the site for you to check on what will be the sales on that day; BlackFriday.org. The good thing with this site is that they let people purchase Black Friday items online to avoid the hassle of having to stand in line at the store at 5am. They also offer direct links to the specific deals you want from other sites. This site is dedicated to serve you by giving useful leads for planning your holiday shopping online. I will definitely use this bfads on checking for great deals of laptops at Dell Home.

Smores

My husband's nieces, Kayla and Britany were here for the weekend. It was a very cold late afternoon, they decided to hang outside by the campfire ground and were making fire. They were making smores, too, and they invited me to join them. I dragged my husband and had him did the smores because I can't stand the heat of the fire; and also because I never had smores before, so I didn't really know what to do.
.
The image shown was the smores that my husband was making; consist of graham crackers, hershey chocolate bar and the burnt marshmallow. I age them all for the record. Truth to tell, I didn't like it. Wow! I wonder why they like eating their marshmallow this way. It was literally turned into ashes. Imagine burning a paper and it becomes all gray, the same happened to the outer part of the marshmallow and they just love eating it.
.
Anyway, the experience was something to treasure and to blog in here. :)

I Am The Apple Of God's Eye

We heard a lot of people complaining that God doesn't care about them. In fact, we sometimes hear ourselves saying the same. But I challenge you to ponder on this fact.
.
"...for whoever touches you touches the apple of God's eye." Zechariah 2:8 NIV
.
We are very precious in God's eyes. He takes good care of us. He does what is best for us. At times, we may don't understand what is happening in our lives, but rest assured, He is in control. And nothing harm befalls to His children. We are the apple of His eyes ("apple" means "pupil") and like anybody else, nobody wants their eye's pupil be touched. It is our natural instinct to protect our pupil at all cost. And that is what God is exactly doing for us. He is protecting us at all cost. Even to the point of giving His son to die on the cross for us. We are the apple of God's eye.

Get Yourself Completely Covered

With my immigration papers still on process, it sounds like we will be in Florida by the time I will be allowed to take driving class. That made it even harder for me because of the roads there in Florida compare here in Michigan. But it is a must to take car driving class.
.
Talking about driving class, the next important thing to consider is to get myself insurance. There are a lot of insurance companies in the market, and you have to choose the one that is very beneficial for us in many ways. Let me share to you something that I found online; AutoNetInsurance.co.uk. This insurance covers everything that you want to be protected including your job and business. Flower Of The Week #5 - Violets

Being here in USA is a privilege to see all the beautiful flowers that are not available in my country, Philippines. I love flowers very much. My mother does, too. I want to make a photo collection of them starting this day. I will be posting the "Flower of the Week every Friday. These flowers will either be from our garden or from somewhere that I will have PERSONAL ENCOUNTER to... and definitely, they will be from my camera, too.
Viola or what is popularly known as "violets" are on our garden, too. Violet is one of my mom-in-law's favorite flowers. I like violets, too, because of its very bright color that seems to dare us.
.
Viola is a genus of flowering plants in the violet family Violaceae, with around 400–500 species distributed around the world. Most Viola species are tiny perennial plants, some are annual plants, and a few are small shrubs. A number of species are grown for their ornamental flowers in borders and rock gardens; the garden pansy in particular is an extensively used spring and autumn/winter bedding and pot plant. Viola and violetta are terms used by gardeners and generally in horticulture for neat, small-flowered hybrid plants intermediate in size between pansies and violets.

Understand Your Rights

Truth to tell, I don’t want to learn to drive. Why? It is because I am scared that I may come across any driving accident on the road. Many people explained it to me and I completely understood the importance of learning to drive for my own safety and for emergency situation, such as when I need to take my husband to emergency room; (which I hope will not happen). Oh yes, of course, I will take driving class as soon as all my papers are set and become a legal alien here in USA.
.
Talking about driving accident, there are many kinds of criminal charges that may happen to us unintentionally, and could have big impact for the rest of our life. In cases like these, we can’t afford to make a wrong decision that will make the case worst and may cost our future. Whether we are facing simple speeding crime, it is just smart that we seek professional help to help us make an informed decision about what is best for us. If you live in N.C., criminal defense Raleigh can be what you need. They can assist you in understanding what you are facing and they know what legal defenses might apply in your case. Call for drunk driving attorney Raleigh, NC or Speeding Tickets Raleigh, NC , they will help you understand your rights and know your options. They will save you from too much trouble.

"No Smoke Can Be Clasped At The Palm Of Your Hand"

"No smoke can be clasped at the palm of your hand." This phrase was said a lot of times when somebody suspected somebody doing something "fishy".
.
There are some things you cannot embrace without losing what you have in the process. This reminds me of the wrong choice that I did that had almost cost me my life, but God was so gracious that He had forgave me and gave me the chance to turn away from the wrong choice I had.
.
"Can a man take fire to his bosom, and his clothes not be burned?" Proverbs 6:27
.
The book of Proverbs were about warnings of any kind of snare including sexual immorality and wrong choices in life. Together with the rest of the Bible, such insights help us to understand the wisdom of an eternal God who loves us far more than our own mothers and fathers do. His Word also points us to the One who can help us even if we have "grabbed a fire" in our hands.
.
Life offers us choices. We need the wisdom of God to help us see and grab the right choices. Christ graciously offers us forgiveness for what was past, and wisdom for what yet lies ahead. The lessons of life are best learned when Christ is your teacher.

Safety Is Important To Every One

One thing that worries my husband about our moving down to Florida is that Dad and Mom will be all by their selves here in the house. Although they keep saying that they will be fine, but I kind of worry about their safety, granting they are both old now. It would have been better if Bud did not die. And fluffer is getting old now that he can hardly walk, too. I suggested to my husband to get them home security .
.
ADT Security System is America’s # 1 home alarm company trusted by more than 5 million homes. They have been in this business since 1874, and that makes them in service for over 130 years of continuos innovation. They are determined in giving you peace and security in your living with a very affordable service price. Food Trip Friday #9 - Green Beans with Bacon

I am joining Mommy Willa on this "Food Trip Friday" meme for a reason that I want to challenge myself to try something new food at least once a week in order for me to learn to cook.
.
My entry for today's Food Trip Friday is Green Beans with Bacon. I had decided to try this recipe this day for our dinner, because my dad-in-law had harvested a whole bunch of green beans from our garden this afternoon. I had never tried this recipe before and I was a bit insecure while I was cooking it, but I am so glad that it turned out right and good. Here are the ingredients and the direction:
*thinly slice green beans
*bacon; cut in square
*onions
*garlic
*bell pepper; cut in cubes (I missed this because we don't have any.)
*salt
*water
DIRECTION:
*Saute onions and garlic.
*Add the cooked bacon.
*Add the bell pepper.
*Add the thinly slice green beans.
*Add water, enough to level the green beans.
*Bring to boil (medium) until almost dry.
*Taste and serve.
.
Happy Food Trip Friday to every one!

Do You Know How Many Days Old Are You?

One thing I have noticed, most 40+ people don't get excited or don't announce their birthdays anymore. Why is that? It is either they want to avoid being asked about their age or because it is not that important anymore. Why do most people tend to hide their true age? Some turn, literally pale, when asked "how old are you?" Some just smiled and would say "just leave it to me". And there where those mean who would reply, "it's none of your business".

Few years ago, one verse from the Bible inspired me to start counting how many days old I was.
Psalm 90:12 "Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom."

If we worry about every day making us older, you miss the wonderful little surprises that each day offers. So many people die so young, it is a shame to regret turning a year older. Each day should be considered a gift rather than a curse. If we could be thankful for every day that we are alive, we wouldn't have sadness about silly things like a birthday or gray hairs. We're aging like fine wine, just getting better with time!

Let's have some fun! Anybody who wants to know how many days old are you? Click on my comments, give me your name, your birth date and come back again to me tomorrow.
.
To start with:
I am 13,475 days old (as of 07-23-09).

Denise is 16,231 days old (as of 07-24-09
Lynn is 17,862 days old (as of 08-14-09)

Let Us Make Our Home Safe For Little Kids

Having little kids to visit in our house was a kind of stressful for us because of safety. This morning, our grandkids were here for a visit because their mom has to work. It was a pleasure and fun having them in our house, their laughter and shouts were music to our ears, but at the same time, it was a bit stressful because I have to make sure that I know what they were doing. Their safety was our main concern. The kids just loved going up and down the stairs, touching everything including electric outlets, going outside or playing the TV remote control. At the end of the day, both my husband and I were exhausted.
.

"Have Fun Farming"

Few months ago, I have friends who were talking about farming in Facebook. They talked about harvesting, hiring a worker, planting, plowing and being a neighbor. I was curious and signed up on it, but I did not see any interesting in it, so I brushed it away.
.
Yesterday, my best friend was talking about her produce of strawberries and more. I then knew what was she talking about and I asked; "Are you on Facebook Farming, too?" "Yes" was the answer that I got from her. So I had decided to go back to my Facebook and tried the farming. And here it is... my little farm; a little bit of strawberries and a little bit of eggplants.
.
Okay. That's all I want to do. I don't have so much time to do this although this is fun. I mean, this is so cool! I want to leave a message to all Facebook Farmers, "Have fun farming."

Comfy Living Room.

The thought of moving down to Florida really excites me, especially because we will be on our own. It will be our first home together. What excites me is the chance to decorate and design our home the way I want it. Although the place is furnished; but we will be replacing some of them. I am looking for beautiful couches for the living room and elegant curtains to match it off. The living room should look comfy enough to welcome dear guests and visitors.
.
Please help me judge on this Leather Couch that I found online. They look fabulous, don’t they? Well, they have a whole lot more fantastic furniture collections such as reclining couches, sectional couches, fabric couches, home theater seating and Love Seats , too. It looks like I am in perfect timing because they are on sale for up to 65% off, no sales tax and they offer free shipping. Cool, huh?
