THE FINALIZATION OF THE BIBLE

I. The Old Testament. By the year 300 B.C. (at the latest) all Old Testament books had been written, collected, revered, and recognized as official, canonical books. Many believe Ezra, the prophet led the first recognition council.

II. The New Testament. During the Third Council of Carthage, held in A.D. 397, the 27 New Testament books were declared to be canonical. The twenty-seven New Testament books were not inspired because the Carthage Council proclained them to be, but rather the Council proclaimed them to be such because they were already inspired.

Magazines For Nurses

My sister-in-law had just graduated her Bachelor of Nurse in Michigan University and she is now working in a hospital. I never realized that being a nurse was not easy as I thought, until my husband happened to be confined in a hospital few weeks ago. There I had witnessed what are the responsibilities and job of a nurse and how well they treat the patient. It made me became interested to take up nursing course, too.

But there was one particular story in Scrubs that has touched my soft heart. It was about “Praying With A Patient” . The writer, a recent nursing graduate, shared her experience with a very ill patient who wanted to pray with her (the nurse). What should she have done? As a new nurse, she knew she wanted to give her patients what they need without hesitation. So, yes, she prayed for her very ill patient.

Although I am not a nurse, I enjoyed reading the articles on this site. I believe you will like this site, too.

Ean, my step-son had his graduation yesterday in Cass City High School. He graduated with honors. Everybody were so proud of him.

Ean is a bright student with an exceptional talent in music, too. He plays different kind of musical instruments. The other weekend, he was playing with his Uncle Roger's band in a camp site. Everybody loves him.

Summer Vacation Is Family Bonding Time

It was Ean’s (my step-son) high school graduation yesterday. I think it was the first time that I saw a lot of people in just one place. (I mean, here in Michigan only.) The ceremony didn’t take very long as it usually does; and we were glad that it went that way because my husband was already sweating and was uncomfortable inside that very crowded gymnasium.

After the ceremony, we had some picture taking and then we heeded to a restaurant for celebration. There were ten of us on one long table. It was such a merry night, everybody was talking about achievements and plans and suggestions. Then later on, the conversation switched to traveling. A relative was sharing their vacation in Las Vegas and their good experiences, while the other one was talking about their vacation in Florida and California.

Summer time is about vacation and traveling because it is when the school stops. Most working parents took vacation leave to have a whole family vacation away from home. That is a good way to unwind our minds, have undivided time with the family and relax our body, too.

Food Trip Friday #5 - Humba

I am joining Clarissa on this "Food Trip Friday" meme for a reason that I want to challenge myself to try something new food at least once a week in order for me to learn to cook.

When I was still in the Philippines, one of the least things that I would try is cooking. Just why? I can't handle criticism. He-he-he! But the irony is, I love eating and I know how some foods supposed to taste. Few weeks after I arrived here in Michigan, I started to craved my favorite Filipino dishes. My best friend, Ann, whom I chat to almost every night, suggested to me to try to cook "Humba". It's one of my favorite. She gave me the recipe and instructions. I tried it. To my surprise, it did good. I did good! I can't believe it.

HUMBA

1/2 kilo pork belly

1/3 cup Datu Puti vinegar

1/4 cup Silver Swan soy sauce

1/4 cup. sugar

1/2 cup water

3 stalks of spring onions

some garlic

some pepper

HOW: place all the ingredients in a pot and bring to boil. Once boiling, set to low for 20-30 mins.tips: I love to add some hard boiled eggs in it, shelled it and put it in 5 minutes before the Humba is done.

It Is Time For Camping Out!

It is camping season once again. More and more RV’s are on the road, going to their favorite campsite. Uncle Therman and Aunt Anna spent most of their time together on their RV (during spring and summer only), hopping from one campsite to another campsite. Just lately, they were in Krystal Lake Camp Site for almost a week.

Thankful Thursday - I Live For God

I apologize for my late posting of this "Thankful Thursday" I have been very busy in many things these days... and I feel like I am trapped in the middle of them. I am so tired right now.

For all the blessing that I received from God in every single moment, there are three big things that I want to thank God on today and these are:
1. My relationship to God. For without Him in my life, it would be empty, useless and wasted. All my labor and sacrifices would be in vain. I live For God.
2. My marriage. My marriage is my ministry. I thank God for the mutual goal we have in our marriage. I see God's blessings poured out in my marriage and scattered throughout around us as well.
3. My blog. My blog is my ministry, too. God uses my blog to bless others (I am bless, as well). I thank God for all my sponsors. It enables me raise up funds for a cause. May God bless my sponsors, too.

Expressing gratitude is simply the polite thing to do, but knowing exactly how to say thank you can be a bit of a trick. It’s hard to know how to say thank you under different circumstances, how much is enough and when more than words might be necessary.

Should it be a real genuine emotional response, a sort of “attitude of gratitude” to those who have assisted us and made a difference in our lives or should it be an automatic response? An almost robotic sort of thing like what you find on some of your shopping receipts.

How Did God Made The Holy Bible? (part 4)

May everybody have a blessed Sunday and may the name of Jesus Christ be glorified always. It is Sunday once again and we are now on the fourth part of this series. And I would like to take this space to thank you for following this series.

THE TEST OF THE HOLY BIBLE

Various books of the Holy Bible especially those of the New Testament, were submitted to certain rigid tests by the early church. These tests included:

1. AUTHORSHIP- who wrote the book or the epistle?

2. LOCAL CHURCH ACCEPTANCE- had it been read by the various churches? What was their opinion?

3. CHURCH FATHER'S RECOGNITION- had the pupils of the disciples quoted from a book? As an example, a man named Polycarp was a disciple of John the apostle. Therefore one test of a book might be, "What did Polycarp think of it?"

4. BOOK SUBJECT MATTER (content)- what did the book teach? Did it contradict other recognized books?

5. PERSONAL EDIFICATION- did the book have the ability to inspire, convict, and edify local congregations and individual believers?

NOTE: It should be stated that it was a combination of these five steps, which helped determine whether a book was inspired or not.

Right after we had our dinner this evening, we went to Krystal Lake Campsite (Vassar, MI) for two reasons; the first one was to see Uncle Therman and Aunt Anna (they camp there for a week) and the second reason was to see my husband's cousin, Roger, playing with the band. We did see Uncle and Aunt, but unfortunately, the band play of Roger was postpond on tomorrow. So, that means that we will be back there tomorrow again.

Instead of the band, they had Karaoke night, hosted by these two ladies in pink shirts. Top Kat is what they call themselves. It was such fun though.

The camp site was filled with campers; both RV's, trailer vans and tents. The place is very perfect for camping. It had pool, lake for swimming and another lake for boating and fishing. The place is big enough to accommodate 2, ooo tents or trailers. I had some shot right at the door of Uncle Therman's RV. I like their RV. I would love that someday, my husband and I will have that, too.

My husband and I went to Firebird Theater at Sandusky yesterday to watch the movie "Angels & Demons". I have seen the "Da Vinci Code" which was release last 2006, it has the same author, Dan Brown, but I could say that "Angels & Demons" is far better than "Da Vinci Code. If you had watch the "Da Vinci Code", you should watch the "Angels & Demons", too.

I remember a quote; "Love the unlovable, or there is no virtue in love at all." (Anybody correct me please. My memory is not that good.) Few years back, I risked going to a place where it needed to ride on a small wooden boat to get there. I brought a bag of groceries and gave it to a very needy family. I did it regularly. I just want to make them feel that somebody cares for them, that they are part of the community and loved.

During Christmas time, it has been a custom to most individuals to give gifts. We exchanged gifts. There are also those very fortunate people who gives gifts to those unfortunate people. And even those who confessed that they don't believe in God, they still do give Christmas gifts. Odd, huh?

God taught us to give in season or out of season. He added, to do good and not look for a reward. Not for glory or fame, just give freely for God's name. The weather is confusing here in Michigan. The other day was very hot that it almost burned my skin while doing some gardening and today, it is very cold that I cannot even go out to plant the flowers.
