My New Chiropractor - Dr. Liz Jones

January 7th- I came home from work at around 1pm. I was very tired. It was a busy day. I was making an aisle for Valentine's Day, and all that lifting wore me out. I took a nap, and woke up with a piercing pain in my right middle back. I was alarmed. I know what pain is that and what will to follow in a few days prior to that pain.

January 8th- My husband and I went to the church and then to Atlantic Ocean Restaurant for brunch with Dad and Mom. Food was great, but I was still in pain... uncomfortable and a little miserable especially when I sit down. I spent the whole afternoon on bed with the heating pad on my back to help ease the pain.

January 10th- I finally decided to make an appointment for Dr. Liz Jones, a chiropractor. The only date that will work with me will be on the Friday, the 13th. I'm a little scared (not because of the Friday, the 13th) but because I am not sure what kind of practice Dr. Liz is performing. I have been to two chiropractor when I was still in the Philippines. The first one, Dr. Dave Israel Cerojano, was my favorite because he did amazing things on my back that after 4 visits I didn't need him again for two years. The second one with the name that I forgot already was twice as much expensive than my first one, and other than that, I didn't like his practice. He didn't spend much time on me and he performed scary things. I miss Dr. Dave. How I wish he is right here where I live so I can visit his clinic every time I need him. And by the way, I am scoliotic, and it is really bad.

January 13th- I finally met Dr. Liz. The first step was performing X-ray in different angle, then they had me tried the DRY HYDROTHERAPY BED for 5 minutes. It was awesome! Then Dr. Liz discussed to me with my husband what she had seen on my X-ray film and how she will fix me. After the orientation, she started performing on me the chiropractic. Nothing new to me except for the cracking of the neck which I was so scared about, and for the clicking of the bed that was design for the purpose to control the pressure of the pressing. (I'm not really sure how to explain it.)

January 14th- I woke up in the morning and felt that there was no more pain in my back. Thank God! Dr. Liz must be good.

January 16th- It was my second appointment with Dr. Liz. The very moment I got on car going back home I told my husband that I will not go back there again. Why? I was frustrated that Dr. Liz spent only 3 minutes on me, and that was it... and then, of course, another session fee. I just can't afford to pay that much for just 3 minutes twisting. I need something that will make my whole back feel refreshed. I told my employer about it. (And by the way, it was my employer who refer me to her because she is a patient, too.) My employer then lovingly explained to me the way of the chiropractic, that it should be done little by little but with sure positive effect in the long run. She explained to me, too, how she fixed her and how long it took her back to being fit. I was even surprised that my husband agreed with my employer because he used to discouraged me into going to chiropractor because he and his family is in medical field. He understood fully what Dr. Liz discussed with us then.

January 20th- It was my third appointment with Dr. Liz. I had back of my head, neck, nape and shoulder pain on that day due to working long hours with my laptop on my "lap" the past night. (Well, that's why they call it "laptop" in the first place.) Dr. Liz then focused on my head and neck... and some on my back. And yes, it was another 3 minutes session again. But I already understood that it was just the right amount that is needed for the moment. I had my husband rub on me some gel that made me feel so refreshed along with mild massage before I went to bed to sleep. (I had him doing it to me regularly even before I had the serious pain.)

January 21st- I feel great! No pain anywhere. I was working with enthusiasm this morning. I was amazed that I didn't had any pain at all except of feeling exhausted every now and then, and I would just sit down for a few seconds to relax and breath... and back to work again. Now I gladly announce that Dr. Liz is now my new chiropractor. Thank you for taking care of me, Dr. Liz. Thank you, God, for leading me to her.

Insane as in "Are You Out Of Your Right Mind?"

I have been here in America for almost 4 years now. My family in the Philippines was always bugging me into sending them big package for them. It is some kind of a “Filipino Thing” that we get excited when we receive a package from outside our country especially from America. Well, right now I have the 24x24 box almost full of stuff to send away to the Philippines. This will be the first ever package that I will be sending to them. Money is always the reason why it took me so long to do this. My husband and I are not rich. We are one of those average families who work to survive. Plus, I visited Philippines not too long ago with two huge luggage full of presents for my family and friends there in the Philippines. So, money-wise, I’m still struggling.

Just lately, I got busy looking for good deals from eBay, store sales, and I even do some garage sale, too, hoping to find good deals that I can put in the box. Just a couple of days ago, I find this amazing website that has insanity deals. Insane as in “are you out of your mind?” The truth is, I don’t care to find out if they are out of their mind, because I don’t want them to realize that they are out of their mind because I want to take advantage of their insanities!

Where else can you find brand new Kindle Touch 3G for only $15.87, brand new Canon EOS Rebel XS SLR Digital Camera for only $19.77, brand new Sony Play Station 3 Console 160 GB, and many more? It doesn’t sound right, I know, but it’s real. Well, curiosity leads me to their website and found out that they diligently search through manufacturer’s close-out sales, some are from overstocking, and some are from cancelled orders and passed them to us for us to avail. Well, I think that’s amazing. It gives chance to somebody like me who can’t always afford expensive “toys”.

As what I always would do, I made a research for any nomorerack scam . Well, with the insane price they give away, people would always say that they are a scam. I had this similar experience not long ago. The prices were amazing, the reviews were terrible, but in the end, I won because I gave it a try and I had my orders in my hand. Doubt will always be there, but the only way to find out is to try, otherwise you will be missing the good things in life.

So, I found the nomorerack reviews , and as I was reading, I feel like I was reading to my own experience as well. I can almost imagine how even more excited my family will be when they found out what will be on the box for them. The Art of Wive's Submission To Their Husbands

In the early stage of our marriage, there are many things that God was trying to teach me, but of all them, this is my favorite; to learn to depend to my husband.

My father died when I was only 10 years old. My mother taught me how to survive both by showing herself as an example and by teaching me micro-business in my early age which I am so grateful because it carried me in so many ways. It probably the reason why in my early age I learned to provide my own needs in ways of handiwork. I was never a financial burden to my family.

Aside from my being "self-made-financial-stability", I also made myself emotionally and mentally stable. Any problem I had, I solved it myself without bothering them. I know I had always been in a compromising situation, but somehow, I managed to come out from them. I can always find answers to most of my questions. I can handle some things that are beyond my educational status. But when I got married...

When I got married, God changed me little by little everyday. God removed from me my being dependent to myself and taught me to share whatever problems I have to my husband. It was amazing how a very simple things that I used to know, and then all of a sudden I am caught in helplessness because I can't solve it. Then, out of despair, I would mention it to my husband... and then bam... the answer appeared. It happened to me a lot. My husband doesn't have to solve it (although sometimes he does). All it takes is sharing to him my problem at the moment. Sometimes, too, he suggest something, and my "self-made-stability" wouldn't agree to him, but in the long run, I end up following his suggestion. In the present time, I learn a lot. I am trying to agree on every thing my husband, and if it doesn't sound appealing to me, I can always voice out my idea, too. There's no harm in that.

God designed marriage in this way; Husbands have the voice... but... it doesn't mean wives can't open up or present their suggestions and ideas. They can, but the husbands got to decide which one to follow. It doesn't mean husbands are always right, sometimes they are wrong, too; but God will bless the decision of the righteous husband. And in the process of being a righteous husbands, their decision became wise and right, too.

In the case of unbelieving husbands, wives prays for their husbands to God that He may bless their husband's decisions and come to know Him. The faithful submission of wives will lead their husband to seek God.

"Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. ²³ For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. ²⁴ Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything." Thankful Thursday - The Grace of God

Today is the second Thursday of the year 2012. I can't count anymore how many Thursdays I missed, but one thing I am so sure, God did wonderful things in my life all the time.

I have tons of things to be thankful to God and it goes endless because every single seconds that passed there were always blessings. I can't even think of something that I can't be thankful to God knowing that they are what we call "blessings in disguise". It means they may be unpleasant at the moment but the end of it brings wonderful things for or in us.

As I sat down right here typing these words, I can't help but feeling in awe on how great our God is that He richly blessed us even if we don't feel we deserved it. I know that a lot of times I felt so stagnant in my spiritual life because of so many things that just keep me very busy but the spirit that is in us is always thirsty for God's fellowship because in the first place we are made with the need of God's fellowship. Thanks to the GRACE of God.

My Best Laid Plan

All I could think about was getting home. The rain and wind had been relentless that day and seemed to add insult to my injury. I had a good old fashioned earache. The day felt like it would never end and I was so relieved to pull into the garage and shut the door behind me. Soup. All I wanted was hot soup and pain reliever. I went straight for the medicine cabinet and pantry. I already was feeling like I might live. I stripped off the jeans and found my husband’s sweats and I slipped inside them and made my way to the sofa. I logged onto http://www.directstartv.com/localchannels/California/B/Berkeley/ and checked out the lineup for the day and most of the evening. I knew I was going to be here a while and there was certainly going to be some television watching happening. At least that was the plan. I woke up three hours later when the children arrived in their loud and happy fashion. I suppose some of the best laid plans rarely come to fruition.

New Year 2012... New Hair... New Life To Whoever Will Have My Hair

It has been years since I started having hair fall problem. I tried ALMOST all given remedies and treatment I was aware of, and it either minimized for a while or it didn't worked at all. I remember that the last time I cut my hair very short was when I was in 3rd year high school and I was so mad to both the hair stylist and to my mama because of that.

Not too long ago that I decided to cut my hair short for the intention with hope of making my hair healthy again as it grow up. To my surprise, my husband was not against it when I discussed it to him, and in fact, he suggested that I donate my hair for children who don't have hair. It gave me more inspiration to do so. I thought that if I can't keep my hair from falling, I rather give it away to somebody that might need it. So I set the day to do it... and it was on the first few days of the new year 2012.

I'm surprise that my husband likes the outcome and everybody that I know gave me positive comments, too. It relieves me from being worried that I might regret doing this. I already sent out my hair to Locks of Love for donation. I will hear from them in the next few weeks to go, and would receive Certificate of Acknowledgement from them. I am so looking forward to it, and would like to keep it as a souvenir of my act.

Prayer Request - My Mom-In-Law's Surgery

Right now I am here in the surgery waiting room of Cape Canaveral Hospital, while my mom-in-law is undergoing a surgery for her right hip.

Here is what happened; three nights ago, they arrived here in Florida from Michigan to spend with us the Thanksgiving Day. The following night after that, she had an accident, she fell on the floor, so bad that it broker her hip and have to have surgery.

A prayer for a success of this surgery, and for fast recovery for my mom-in-law is needed and will be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much, and I believe that it will be rewarded by our living God which is in heaven.

Touching Ground (November 22nd '11)

The title of my post tonight does not have to do with the picture I attached in. "Touching ground" is about update of the author of this blog. I know that it has been six weeks ago since my last post here in in my blog; and I am not very happy about it. I thought that purchasing myself a new laptop would inspire me to blog more often, but evidently it didn't. I really feel sorry that I have been neglecting my blog. I just can't find time to blog anymore amidst all these responsibilities I have now in my hand. I think I need somebody to teach me about time management and prioritization. There are times that I find myself all messed up that I just want to sit down and watch movie instead of catching up on things that needs to be done immediately. And one of the effects is that I lost my PR4 on this blog. It is now PR2. I'm not really concern about it because I just can't find time anymore to work on those task that was given to me to write here on my blog, that in fact, I had been constantly declining the oppportunities that came my way since then.

Well, let me give you some rough summary on my whereabouts since I stopped posting regularly here.

* We went to West Virginia during the Labor Day weekend, spent 5 days there.

*Been extremely busy at work... loaded with more responsibilites lately.

*My parents-in-law are here with us again.

I don't know when will be the next post again. I hope it will not be too long. I really want to get back on paid blogging, too, for additional earnings that I will need for Christmas gifts buying. Actualy, I do have 2 task right now, but I will find time to write one of them tomorrow (with cross fingers).

Boiled Green Banana and Raw Salmon

When my husband and I were in Tallahassee, his cousin took us to an Asian store where I found these green bananas. These are the kinds of bananas that best for cooking, and that I can't find it anywhere. I bought 8 of them, with the thought of splitting them in half. The first half will be for boiling while still green, while the other half will be for frying it ripe. And I did... well, on the first half though.

When I was talking to my best friend, Ann, via Skype, she showed me that she was eating boiled green bananas, and I told her that I got those , too. She suggested that I should prepare a raw fish to eat with it (it used to be one of our favorite dishes when I was still there in the Philippines), and I said, "Oh yeah, that's a good idea!" Right on the following day, I went to Pacific Seafood (my favorite place when it comes to fresh seafoods). I was not sure what kind of fish to buy. I saw Sea Bass, but was told that they were frozen, not fresh; and so I settled with Salmon.

I never did this before, but I have the best teacher when it comes to coooking, and that is my best friend, Ann. I was so happy on how it turned out, that even my husband liked it, and actually ate with me with the banana. That was an awesome dinner.

Oh, I am so thankful to God that this is possible here.

Home Project - Glass Tiles For Kitchen Wall

I gave myself off from work today so that I can do some personal things. I have two invitations today; one is going to Deland to bond with a friend and the second is to go to Orlando right now for a birthday party of a friend’s son. I declined both. I have another invitation tomorrow, too; a joint birthday party at noon. I will have to decline that, too. The reason? I want to spend my time in house cleaning today and tomorrow.

I woke up late this morning. I didn’t feel bad because somehow I believe I deserved it. I have been waking up so early since we move our store hours opening to an earlier. I had loaf bread and chocolate ice cream for lunch, turned my Yahoo Messenger Music on, set it to Yahoo Exclusives Love Songs, and voila! I am in the mood to start with my general cleaning.

I started in our kitchen… and so on… I don’t like the walling in our kitchen. I want it changed to glass tiles. I took my laptop and googled glass tiles and there I found this glass mosaic tiles . I think this look so gorgeous and like any ordinary tiles that are so boring. I showed it to my husband, he just shrugged. He don’t care so much about home improvement. Well, I like it and I will consider having this.

This source also has metal mosaic tiles . I think they look gorgeous, too, but my dilemma is that metal tends to make the surrounding area cold which I don’t like (but my husband would surely love it).

I am happy to be able to accomplish something big today. I am happy that I choose to stay at home instead of socializing around again which I had so overly did lately. It feels so good!

Thankful Thursday - God Answers

I'm back! I know. I owe you big time on my "Thankful Thursday" entry. The only explanation that I can give is that I was so overloaded with so many task that blogging became difficult for me. However, here I am now, and since I got a new laptop, (which I am very thankful to God) this should inspire me to be back on blogging. I got a whole bunch of things that deserves mention on how thankful I am to God, I may not be able to mention all of them, and to start with, I would like to highlight this verse;

"Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not." (Jeremiah 33:3 KJV)

First of all, I would like to thank God for nurturing me spiritually all the time. His word is the light to my path. In a situation where I was not sure on what to do, God laid it out on me like a blueprint for me to follow. Doing His will is what gives me peace of mind and made me successful in things that I entrusted to Him.

I am thankful, too, for the good health that my husband and I enjoy every day. We are both extremely busy, and although most of the time we were physically weary, but it did not really pull us down. I also thank God for keeping my mama in pretty good shape lately. My sister helped her now trying to be independent from those expensive medication, which I am so glad that they do because I just can't afford it, and now, they can use the money on the other things instead, such as on eating what she wants to eat, or buy herself something that will cheer her up. I think it sounds better to me than spending all the money on medication, at least she will enjoy life, and as long as she can maintain her blood sugar level in low. Thank you, Lord.

Everyday I thank God for the job I have now. I love it very much and I am giving my 120% on it. (Yes, because even at home, I still do some job-related work.) I handle my job with a spirit of good stewardship, and God knows that I honored him in it. Although at times, my employer doesn't seem to know or understand what I was or have been doing, but my ultimate and heavenly employer sees everything and knows my motives, and that gave me peace in mind that no matter my earthly employer find me incompetent sometimes, I am confident that God will work all things together for good for my behalf, and He always did. He is the provider of bright ideas and wisdom that pleases my employer. Thank you, my heavenly Boss.

I thank God, too, for holding my husband up in his studies. I see and understand how my husband sacrifices on this, and I see, too, how God miraculously and mercifully helped and sustained my husband since the very first day of his class. I am glad that my husband enjoyed his class and the least that I can do is to support him every way that I can, and this includes prayer. My desire is to see my husband's dream comes true, which I believe is God's will for him. Thank you, God.

ROY... You are beautiful!

I was doing the paperwork at the store this morning, and I happened to look outside through the glass and I saw ROY (G. BIB). I was in awe of its beauty. I ran to the office to grab my camera and was very glad that it did not go away, that I was still able to catch its beauty through my camera. It was raining few minutes earlier, and that's how its beauty became more amazing, reminding people that there is a rainbow (or two) after the rain. Yeah, there were times that I saw a couple of rainbows perfectly collided to each other. It was beautiful.

This rainbow reminded me that I can start anew with my life... my priorities... and everything else that are messed up lately. I admit that I was so carried away lately with my work that all the other areas in my life were falling. But the good thing is, the Holy Spirit never fails to remind me on how I ought to live... and with the grace of God, here I am, back on the track. Thank you, Lord... and thank you for the rainbow that you used as an instrument to bring realization to my mind.

Daughter's a Flirt

My daughter is the biggest flirt, it scares me sometimes. I know that sounds crazy but the last thing I would want to happen is for her to chat someone up somewhere and they follow her home or something like that. I know I sound like a totally crazy dad but you know, it’s my job to worry about her. When she bought her first house I went to homesecurityfamily.com and made her sign up for an alarm system and that’s at least put my mind at ease. She says she’s got a new boyfriend which also makes me feel better since at least that will probably cut down on the number of odd men she talks to. I know I should be more worried about the fact that she’s flirty than her personal safety but I guess I just feel like it’s my job as a dad to be protective of her physically. I think that since she’s out there on her own I just worry about her more and more.

My New Dell Inspiron

It has been a couple of months since the last I posted here on my blog. There has been so many things that kept me from blogging and I just can't help it; and just a week ago, I found a way to rekindle my passion in blogging, and that is to buy a new laptop so that I can post anything on anytime and in anywhere.

Yesterday, I went to a baby shower party right after work, and it didn't take long, we parted and went each own way home. In other words, I was home early. I feel depressed, so I decided to watch movie, and found myself still depressed after the movie was over. I was thinking on something to do, eventhough I have so many things on my list that are need to be done but I just didn't feel like doing them, until... alas! "I need to get a laptop right now." I then told my husband, "Honey, I know what I need now, I need a laptop." Let's make the long story short, here it is, my new Del Inspiron.

Thank you, honey, for this. Thank you, God, for this another blessing.

From now on, I will be back to life in blogging more... to do what I am supposed to be doing... to tell God's Amazing Grace... by God's help.

Elvie's Birthday Party... Plus

Two Saturdays ago, I met Elvie at Baby Tom's birthday party. She was one of the two new Filipina I just met on that day. We had so much fun that Elvie decided to do it again. Few days after that was her birthday, but decided to celebrate it on Saturday, and thank goodness that I worked morning and was free whole afternoon henceforth, and was able to join this wonderful get-together.

I was glad that this time, my husband was with me. I was so surprised when we get to Elvie's house and saw a whole bunch of Filipinas that I haven't met before. After introducing ourselves to each others, there was connection right away, especially because all of them, except for one, were of the same dialect which was the "Bisaya". We fondly call ourselves "mga bisdak".

The food was great and the hospitality of the household was amazing. Elvie was the one preparing all the foods, and of course, they were Filipino foods. We were just very comfortable laughing, talking out loud, endless eating... and again... the best part of every Filipina gathering, the picture taking. All of our husbands was having fun taking pictures of us, and we almost feel like we were celebrities with all those endless and blinding camera flash. We were even confused where to look with all those cameras aiming on us.

Too bad, the party had to end. It always does. The amazing part of this gathering was that half of the visitors were from a distant cities such as Orlando, Jacksonville, and even Washington. They just came to Merritt Island to celebrate Elvie's first birthday party here in USA. But before we parted, guess what? Everybody have to give their Facebook account/name to everybody. After all, this is where they first met and became friends... and so are we.

Thankful Thursday - His Amazing Grace

It has been quite a while since the last time I posted my "Thankful Thursday" entry. There has been so many things happened in this past few months that until now, I am still struggling to get back to where I was. But believe me, I am trying... really trying hard. One of them is my ministry, which is living to tell God's Amazing Grace. I will never leave this... as long as this is free... I will always be coming back here.

All through these days, I never cease to acknowledge that God bless me richly in every aspects of my life. His amazing grace is so sweet. Although there are some things that are not how I wanted it, but in God's point of view, it is what we need to become what God wanted me to be. Abundance, obstacles, pain and happiness are all part of the tasks that we have to overcome day by day.

I am just so grateful to God that He enable me to do this again. This is my life, telling everybody about how good God is, and before I go on, I would like to highlight this verse for you:

(It is the same old job that I have for 8 months now) I really love my job and I believe that I grow in some aspects of my life because of this job that God put me in. Smoothie Party!

One of the favorite things of mine to do is to cook and bake things. But now I'm venturing into making mixed drinks, but not just the alcohol kind! Instead, I'm also really excited to make smoothies now. I've been doing that a whole lot this summer and I find that they really are pretty satisfying and rewarding. You couldn't ask for anything better for the summer! They're just that good!

Well, I've been collecting a whole bunch of recipes for them and while I was looking online yesterday to try and find a few new ones, I ran across the site www.CLEARWIRELESSINTERNET.com. I Looked through it a little bit and after that I changed over our home internet service to the company.

I've decided that in a few weeks I'm going to invite a bunch of my girlfriends over and am going to throw a really huge smoothie party. I think that it's going to be so much fun and a way for me to show off all of my newly found smoothie making skills!

Meeting New Filipina Friends @ Baby Tom's Birthday Party

I have been extremely busy lately between so many things that going out with my friends became close to impossible lately. My friend, Jeanny, invited me over to her son's 2nd birthday two weeks ago, and she asked me if I could help her prepare a "bam-i". It is a Filipino food that is suppose to be present on every Filipino birthday party. Well, I told myself; "I need a break". This could be a perfect break for me, catching out with my friends and at the same time, eating our own Filipino foods that we miss so much. So, I requested a day off from work for the particular day... and everything happened as planned, only for one thing though, my husband was not feeling good, and was not able to join us.

I had the chance to meet two wonderful new Filipina, and became friends right away with them. I met Jelly and her family who drove all the way from Palm Beach. I also met Elvie and her family, who, to my surprised, just live to the area where we live; and who also, prepared all the foods including desserts (except of bam-i and cake). She is a superb cook. We all indulged ourselves with the Filipino foods. We shared our funny experiences as wives and mothers. And of course, any gathering can't be complete without the excitement of picture taking here and there... again and again... We had such a blast.

On next Saturday, Elvie will be hosting another party. It will be her birthday party. We are looking forward that more will show up on that day. It will be another day of fun. It will be another "stress-reliever", fun-filled and tummy stuffing day. I just hope and pray that my husband will be feeling well on that day and so that he can be with me on enjoying this moment.

I just read my friend's blog a while ago. She and her family are one of the survivors during the Japan earthquake last 3-11. She had described to us how terrified they were the day after that very strong earthquake. Transportation were cut off. Grocery store were emptied out by the people who were panic buying. No water supply. And above all, there were no means of communication; no internet... no cellphone signal.

Communication is very essential during calamities to render information about our whereabouts and status. We are so thankful for the technology that brought cellphones to almost everybody nowadays. But sad to say, that just when we needed it the most, that is the first thing to fail in times of calamity such as earthquake, storms and such. It is really frustrating that our phone service can't carry us through in times of needs.

During the time that my husband had the surgery at the VAMC Gainesville, FL, and up until we checked out, I read this book. I borrowed this from our church library. I figured that it has been a while ago since I last reading a book and took this chance to do it again.
.
The book SARAH - Women of Genesis, is authored by Orson Scott Card. Although the author admitted to have manipulate some of the minor characters and events for the purpose of making the tale interesting, but in overall ratings, they very enlightening and informative as well... and having read the entire Bible more than once, I can spot the difference right away.

I was amazed as I was reading this book. I seen my inmost personality in the life of the main character in most cases. I feel like it is so strange that it is almost impossible that somebody have similar outlook that I have. It made me ask myself this question: "Are women have general emotion when dealing with marriage issues?"

Anyway, I am glad that I got the chance to read again, and finished it as well. I hate starting a book and can't finish it. I'll be happy to return it back to our church library.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of those that utter some words of prayer for the surgery of my husband. Your prayers are heard from above. They mean so much to us. I believe that they will not go unrewarded. The surgery went very well. There was no infection or whatsover after the surgery, my husband felt that the doctors did fix him real good, and to top that, my husband's recovery is very fast that he's back to driving a car in less than two weeks after the surgery. I thank God for everything He did to my husband. His name is to be praised always!

3 Years In USA

In behalf of my husband, I would like to express our deepest gratitude to all who pray for my husband for his surgery last Monday. Everything went well, and he is now in the stage of recovering. The doctors are even impressed by his fast recovery that he actually walked around the hall since yesterday, and had used the stairs going up and down today as part of his therapy. Praise God!

The doctor gave him permission to go home tomorrow, which we all hoped so that he can have a nice rest in the convenient of our own home which is 4 hours drive away from the hospital.

The day of his surgery was the day that marked the 3rd year of my stay here in USA. I am so happy that everything went smooth with my immigration papers and above all, our running 3 years of marriage which was the sole reason why I came here in USA. There was never a day that I regretted coming here, not because I didn't had problems, but because I am at peace knowing that I am doing what God wills me to do in my life, to bring forth the purpose He have in my life to this world. To God be the glory always!

Philippine Independence Day 2011

Three years ago, I left my home city to fly here in US. My flight was 6:45 p.m. and two hours after I was in Manila to take the international flight.

I came back to Philippines two years later to visit my mama. I had good time and is looking forward to visit again next year, if God is willing.

I love my country, Philippines, and I will never give up my citizenship. I could get dual citizenship if I have to.

We celebrate Independence Day on every 12th of June. It is always a great chance to remember how we gain our freedom and enjoying it up to the present time. We remember and acknowledgment, too, the heroes behind this event. We salute and appreciates the noble deed they rendered.

Happy Independent Day to us, Filipinos. May God continue to bless our country.

I love watching TV with my son and lately he is into Japanese TV or anime. Together we watched a show for free on "On Demand TV "on our satellite TV from http://www.cabletelevision.net/ called Sgt Frog. The title sounds a bit silly but when you watch as much TV together as we do its not that outlandish.

Mine Yoshizaki produces this series and its from Japan. It's a humorous animated show about a bunch of frogs led by Sgt. Keroro from another planet. The frogs are part of large army coming to invade Earth and they are determined to conquor Earth but something goes wrong. The small platoon led by Sgt. Keroro find themselves in a family home. While in the home the Sgt is captured and abandoned by his army. He is then forced by the family to do meaningless chores and errands. Very funny, and I laugh just thinking about this whole concept.

The series is hilarious and gets much of its comedy from references to pop culture and despite being a Japanese show we understand the humor. My son and I enjoy watching it because the anime is very detailed and again, the show is funny.

Losing The Key - To The Glory Of God's Name (Final Update)

May everybody have a blessed Sunday today.

It took me almost two weeks to update my blog again. One "anonymous" comment advised me to upate it, and I want to apologize for not doing it right away. It is the same old reason... work... house chores... and quality time with my husband.
.
Well, I have a very good news here; a very good thing to blog about. Actually, I consider this a "victory". After almost three months, the key was finally retrieved. Praise God! Once again, God brought glory to His own name. Once again, God displayed His faithfulness of His word.
.
I feel so blessed that I trusted Him all the way; that I was not tempted to fake it just to impress my boss and to recover my neglection. I always believe that there is a reason on every single thing that happened to us; and I just realize that God may have sharpened my "Honesty" in my workplace. In the situation I am in, temptation is in my hand. I opened and closed the store all by myself. I counted my money from the drawer all by myself. But never one item that I took from the store was unpaid... down to the very cents of it.
.
Another thing that God sharpened in me through this incident is my faith in God. Good or bad, I trusted in Him. There are times that the situation was not favorable to me, but it never drive me negatively toward my job. I did everything to my job as if my employers were watching me all the time; (but they are not there most of the time). I love the store as if it is mine. I did everything to it, the best that I could and is growing into it. I don't know how long I will have this job, but I know that if I lost this, I can look back with integrity in me.

"Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three gather in my name, there I am with them." (Matthew 18:20 NIV)

This verse is very "alive" in my life. I can't count anymore how many times I got a hold on this verse and really "saved" me. God's word is alive and gave us a life. The purpose of this post is to give God the glory... to Him alone, for he alone deserves it.

Want To Be Proactive? Follow The 5 P's

How do you generally control life situations? Do you cause things to happen, or move only after things happen? These are important questions to ponder, especially if you’re keen on being successful and happy in life. The most successful people in life are the ones who are proactive. Proactive people don’t sit around waiting for things to happen – they get up and make things happen. They thrive on being self-reliant and resourceful, and on taking responsibility for the task at hand.

Proactive people are always moving forward, looking to the future. They choose to actively engage rather than passively observe. Being proactive is a way of approaching the world. Reactive is: “I’ve got terrible abdominal pain. Maybe I’ll go to the hospital.” Proactive is: “Even though I’m symptom free, I want to live a healthy, long life. To this end, I exercise a lot and eat wholesome, non-processed foods.”

So, are you proactive or reactive in life?

Certainly, you can’t help being reactive sometimes in life. Living in the moment often means being flexible and adapting to a fast-changing environment. At other times, long-term plans must be scuttled in favour of a quick solution. Unavoidable road blocks also pop up every now and then – the kind even the most proactive person on the planet would not have been able to predict.

Proactive people exhibit five key behaviours, otherwise known as the 5 Ps:

Prediction

If you want to be proactive, developing foresight is vital. Learn to anticipate events and problems with your creativity and logic. Use your imagination and think of multiple outcomes for how an event may unfold. And don’t always count on the past being a solid predictor for the future. Keep yourself on your toes.

Prevention

Once potential obstacles are identified, the next step is to find ways to overcome them before they turn into real road blocks. A proactive person takes control of a challenge by confronting it head-on before it becomes insurmountable.

Planning

Proactive people don’t do ‘here and now’ thinking. They look ahead and anticipate future consequences for decisions taken, in a chain of events that leads to one result. Focusing on where you want to end up is key.

Participating

Being proactive means taking initiative and being part of the solution. Don’t simply react to the actions of other people. Engage with them. Make a contribution and exert influence. Relationships and on line dating with anyone should be balanced and two-way streets. Happy Easter everybody! How was your day? Let me share to you on how mine was.
My husband and I had the chance to join the inter-church Easter Sunday Sunrise Service by the lagoon at Kelly Park this morning. This is my third Easter Sunday here in USA, but today was my first time celebrating it to the fullest.
.
It was a wonderful service and good to see that it was full-packed, too. We had donuts and coffee afterwards. It gave us the chance to mingle with other believers, and we got the chance to had fellowship with my friend's mother which is also a Filipina. It was so nice having a chit-chat with them. After the park, we went to each of our "home church" and had pancakes and sausage (teens fund raising program) where we had another chit-chat with another wonderful couple that I really admire so much.

At around 2:30 p.m., we had a family gathering at Aunt Kathy's house. It was after the kid's egg hunting. I heard the kids was having a blast. I missed to witnessed it, because I was cooking then. Well, I am hoping that next time I will be able to witness it. Easter dinner was great. Everybody in the family brought their food and had a good chat. We were all so full and the gathering was a success. It is always feels good to be with family on days like this. God's name be praised on this day of Jesus' resurrection... and for all the days of our lives.

On The List - To Purchase A Car

I was talking to my sister a few days ago on some “not-so-good” news about our mama’s health condition. I was greatly sad for three reasons. The first reason is for our mama’s suffering. Second is for my sister’s suffering on physically taking care of her. The third is for my suffering on financially taking care of her. We have two (2) more other sister and one (1) brother, but… I don’t know. They just keep saying there is nothing they can do to help, which I don’t believe because if there is a will, there is always a way. You can always help in any little ways. Help doesn’t always come in the form of money. There are many forms of help that will always be greatly appreciated.

Anyway, I have to stop feeling disappointed and got to figure out on what we can do to help our mama. There are so many things on my list that I need to take care of such as my ROC, driving test, purchasing a new car, Philippine trip savings, etc. I guess I have to re-organize this list and figure out which one should be done first. Or maybe, instead of purchasing a new car, I’ll just settle down on a used car.

It is definitely not hard to find used cars here in where I am. In fact, this website http://www.tampa-used-cars.com a popular used car dealer in Tampa which is only a couple of hours away from where I live. They have a wide selection of used cars and used trucks in their location. They have a website, too, which makes it more convenient for me, and so that I will not have to spend time on their location for car reviews since I can do it online. I think I fall in love with this Chrysler Sebring . It has 3-point safety belt system, 4-wheel disc anti-lock brake system, automatic headlight, belt alert system (which I believe is very helpful) and many more amazing features. This came out on 2010. In other words, this is not very outdated. My second choice is the Ford Focus , with some similar features but cheaper.

I guess I need to do more car reviews before I consider on what to purchase. I got plenty of time though. This http://usedcarstampa.mirocommunity.org/ is great for car shopping, too. On top of this, I have to pass my driving test first before worrying about what car to purchase.

Soar On Wings Like Eagles

I thank God that so far, there has been no scooter-related problems or any unpleasant that happened to us, except for the tanned skin that I accumulate from riding which I hate (but my husband love it). Come winter and the scooter will come to seasonal rest, and I hope that I will regain my natural skin tone again. ................................................................................................. While I learned to enjoy riding the scooter, I also learned few things that are related to our spiritual life, and one of them is what I call; SOAR. ...................................................................................................... I noticed that every time we crossed high and long bridges on a very windy day, after battling the bothersome wind, there is calmness when we reached the peak of the bridge. It reminded me of this word: "...but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint." (Isaiah 40:31) ...................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... I was told that whenever there is a storm, the eagle would soar beyond the wind and there the eagle felt safe and free from the strong gush of the wind that may lead the fall. It has application in our life, too. But I want to believe that only the spiritually strong ones can soar beyond the "storm of our life", because it will need strength and determination to be able to conquer it. Not all the birds can do it, only the strong ones. As well as, not all God-believers are strong and determined. Strength and determination are acquired through regular prayer and meditation of His holy word.

Leave Them To The Experts

I have been married for less than three years and I am amaze to find out that home projects are seems endless… and so are the expenses. Whew! If I let myself to get carried away on what I want to be done in our house, both our income will not be enough, but thanks to the “self-control method”, it made me accomplished our house projects one at a “looong” time, while enjoying good food and some other outdoor activities. It is really necessary to put everything in proper order, or our life will be a big mess. Bunches of unfinished projects will be scattering all around, and that definitely means wasting of money.

Financially aside, “time” is the other factor that keeps us from accomplishing some home projects. My husband and I are both busy most of the time that we rather sit down together to watch our favorite TV show every time we are both home than focusing our home projects. Perfect Love Casteth Out Fear

My husband just bought a new scooter a week ago, and I was so worried about it. I was so against of the idea in the first place, but he explained to me that it is savvy this way because the gas price is going up lately. I understood... and I chose not to complain about it. He has been riding a motorcyle for a long time already and I chose to trust him rather than whining about it. Although... I can't help but be scared every time I ride with him, I chose not to show it so that he will be comfortable with me, and also, I see and I know that my husband is a very careful driver, in which I am very thankful to God. . For days, I was holding God in my prayers every single minute, to keep us safe, especially when I was on the scooter. Then, I come to realize that I was no longer enjoying God's blessing to us... the scooter. So, I opened my Bible and look for His word. I was thinking to myself that I really need a verse that I can hold on, something that will blow my fear away. God gave me this: "There is no fear in love, but perfect love casteth out fear." 1 John 4:18 . I know I heard and read this verse a million times already, but I didn't realize that I haven't understood its full meaning. I didn't care to understand either. Until then, that God gave this to me... and I asked Him, "God, what does this has to do with my problem?" God revealed to me then that His perfect love will keep me safe, protected, provided and loved; and that perfect love should make us feel invincible... that no harm will befall on us, because He is our shield and that He takes care of us, and that He has total control over everything that happens in our life. His perfect love means 100% safety and security. As a result... we will no longer fear on anything... anything at all. How They Became So Rich

According to USDHHS 2011 report, our status in living is a little above poverty level. I know that this is not something to boast about; but rather this is something that I am so thankful to God… but it did not end there… I am praying that many will climb out from the pit of the poverty level.

Just recently, my husband and I made new friends, and we didn’t had any idea what kind of people they are until they invited us to their house… actually, it can be consider as a mansion. Very grand! They were very hospitable and we felt so comfortable with them. It is nice to know that a very wealthy couple that are very friendly at the same time. I used to have a notion that wealthy people are snob people. This incident proved me wrong.

On our way home, I happened to ask my husband how they became so rich, and yet they are still in their prime age. My husband answered me that they probably invested their money in a very wise way, which can be find in many form and one of them is to buy gold bullion . To those who don’t know, according to Wikipedia, bullion is a coin struck from precious metal and kept as a store of value or an investment, rather than used in day-to-day commerce. They are also typically available in various weights that some even produced in kilograms and even heavier than that.

I know that to buy gold is a good investment, and now I realize that there is even better than that, and that is the gold bullion . People in the higher class level are keeping their wealth safe by purchasing gold bullion, because gold coins is always the vital part of the commerce that started long, long time ago.

Well, I came to conclusion now that whenever we can, we will definitely buy bullion for an investment and to protect our wealth. Maybe you should do the same, too. And together we'll climb out from the poverty level of living... and soar to be at least one with the middle class of living.

Thank God it is Thursday again. I know I missed the past few Thursdays to post this, but here I am now. I don't to make this day pass without this post again. But before I state that things that I am so thankful for, I want to highlight this verses:

I have mentioned to you few weeks ago that my parents-in-law were here. There were a couple of reasons why they were here. First was to escape away from the brutal strike of winter; and the second was to look for a house. They are planning to sell their house in Michigan and move down here in Florida for good.

Closet Clutter

My husband left early for school this morning, and my work shift will be late this afternoon. I have half day all to myself. I had decided to spend my morning offering Him a song of worship, reading God's word, and meditating on it. I just love to be in the presence of God.

The message God gave to me this morning was about clearing out our clutter. If we have been too busy in life (like me) and if you live with somebody who don't care about orderness in the house (like my husband) chances are you end up with clutters all over the house. Every time I perform a general house cleaning, I always start in our closet. Probably because it is the most remote part of the house, and it is where most clutters are filing up because I always hid there the things that I don't want to be visible somewhere else. After I cleaned it, it always feels like it took away the biggest part of the job.

To some people, the part of the house that has more clutters are in their garage, to some in basement, to some in bedroom. (Well, we don't have both garage and basement.) But one thing is sure, we are ashamed to open that door to our visitor or guest. We don't want them to see our clutter.
.
It is the same thing with our life. Living in this world, meeting new people, getting acquainted with all these modern stuff and the world's ways, somewhere in our hearts and minds, all these made us accumulate clutter in our lives, and some of them, we are ashame for others to find out. Things such as hate, envy, covetousness, lust, disatisfaction and many more. These are the things that makes our life's "closet" dirty and disorder. And while we think we can hide the clutter, eventually, it will show.

The word of God says, "Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?" (1 Corinthians 6:19 NIV ) Knowing this, it makes me think that I let God live in my heart with all the clutters. It is not a good place for a King. It is not how we treat a very special guest in our house. I feel so awful!

Well, I think it is about time that we spend a day to clean up the mess in our life. General cleaning is not just needed in our house, it is also needed in our hearts and mind. It is about time we throw away the hatred, the bitterness, the unforgiveness, the lust and everything unpleasant that are hiding in our "closet". It is about time that we organize our attitude and fill our hearts with the beauty of God's Word. Let us make our "closet" clean and then be confident again knowing that there is nothing bad and shameful that you hide in there anymore.

My Journey "Going Green" With New Green Technologies

I know I am just one person in this great big world. But I try to do my part to be environmentally conscious. I have tried to incorporate the phrase, “going green” into my everyday life. As well, as saving the planet I also expect to see home energy savings through new green technologies.

The first thing I did and one of the easiest for anyone to do in “going green” is switching out your light bulbs. As my old incandescent light bulbs blew, I replaced them with compact fluorescent light bulbs. These can be expensive to do all at once, so I just changed them out gradually when a bulb needed to be replaced. Your energy usage can! go down by 25%.

Some simple things to do around the house to save energy are to set you thermostat a few degrees higher in the summer and a few degrees lower in the for more things to do check out http://www.JustEnergy.com. Wash you clothes in cold water and use a clothesline, skipping the dryer. Use a power strip and turn off your appliances and electronics when not in use. Sometimes it's the little things that count.

These are just a few ways I try to contribute to the planet. With some thought, I know I can think of more ways to save with all the new green technologies that are out there.

Find A Job You Love

It has been almost four months since I got this job that I have now. I am very thankful to God for giving me this work. For a lot of times, I was just amazed that I am being paid to do these things I am doing... I so loved it. This reminds me of a certain quote that I posted on our "couple's multiple picture frame". It says, "Find a job you love and you'll never have to work another day in your life." So true!
.
I love my job, not only because I enjoy it. I love my job because it gives me all Sundays off, which means we can go to church and spend the whole afternoon together. Other reason why I love my job because it helps me build up my personality and confident in dealing with people here in USA. There are so many things that my job helped, than just supporting me financially, and I believe with no doubt that this is a blessing from God. I never ever regret giving up my previous job which paid better than what I have now, but the downside of it was physical abuse and more.

I am not bragging, although it may sound one. I am just very thankful that God give me this job. You can't blame me. If you know me, you will glorify God's name, too, because of the blessing I got. I don't know what lies ahead. I don't know for how long I will stay in my job. It can be like smoke... here now, gone then. Or it can be like a bubble gum stuck to your shoes, it will stick for good. Either way, as long as it is God's will... there is absolutely nothing to worry. The most important is that I always give the best that I can to my job. My employers may not aware of them all, but my ultimate "boss" knows it and the reward is sure to come in any form and on his perfect time.

Scholarships For Minorities

Wow! It has been a while since I posted my last one. Blame it to my work schedule. I don’t like it either, but got to do what is assigned to me. I hate this schedule because it left me no more time to do some things that I need to do in the house, getting online and to do my project, too. I’m now like eat… work… eat… sleep… and vice versa. This has been like this for two weeks already. I just wonder what will happen if I go to College? Where will I get the extra time that I need to study? I don’t know. Well, maybe something will work out for me then.

Yeah, I am thinking of going to college, but not after my husband will be done with his. He will be over in a year, I think. Then, it will be my turn. May God bless our endeavors and dreams. We are just a couple who want to spend our life doing what we love to do… and in service to the mankind. As the quote says, “Find a job you love and you will never have to work another day in your life.”

Looking forward, I know it will be hard for us financially if I go to college right after my husband finish his, especially if he can’t land on his dream job right away and maybe I have to quit my job, too. I don’t know. Probably, I will consider the scholarship grants available around.

Losing The Key - To The Glory Of God's Name (Update)

May everybody have a blessed Sunday today as I do have.

This post is an update about the key that was lost few days ago. It is still in the state of "lost" right now. It has not been retrieve yet. However, I believe that it will in His perfect time.
.
My employers keep inquiring me if I found they key yet and I feel sorry that I have to give them the sad reply "NOT YET" to it. I could have faked it by making a duplicate of the key because they gave me another one, and it would have make them happy and relieved that the key has been retrieved, and it will do good on my part, too, but... this is not how God wants it to happen. Absolutely not! God definitely don't need my manipulative help to save His name. My two boss and I were praying together, with joined hands, that they key will be retrieve, and faking the divine answer would be a blasphemy in God's holy name. Well, we did our part. We prayed and trust in Him that He will answer our prayer because we have faith that this is not impossible to Him, His part is to answer our prayer, and He takes pleasure in doing so... in His perfect time. So, here I am, living in faith every minute of my day, praying that the key will soon be retrieve... to relieve my employers... and above all, to the glory of God's mighty and powerful name for this is all about Him.

Losing The Key - To The Glory Of God's Name

Few minutes before I had to close the store, I was going to grab the key from my pouch and found out that it was not there. I was worried. What should I do? I called my husband to have him try to look around our house, and after several minutes, he called me back to tell me that he could'nt find it. I started to feel frantic. I didn't want to bother my employer which must have rested already by then, but I got no choice but to call them and let them know the situation I was in.

The moment I arrived home, I was looking all over the places. I can't find it. I don't understand how it happened, because I thought I was always very careful in everything especially when it is related to work. It was almost 2 o'clock in the morning when I decided to sleep it off, with the hope that by morning I will find it. So, the following day, I started looking for it again, and no result. I prayed. God's answer was "Stay calm. This is my work. Have faith in me." By saying, "have faith", God did not mean to have faith and the key will be retrieve. What God was trying to tell me was that whatever will happen, there is nothing to worry because this is God's activities, using my life, all for the glory of His name. So, I declared that I am living by FAITH right now. No "why's". No "but's". Just "Yes, Lord." After all, He is the best architect, the best engineer, the best designer, and to top these all, His service is FREE. All He need from us is our FAITH. (Hard, huh? I know.)
.
I talked to my employers about it, that I can't find it. They give me a temporary one, but told me that I still have to keep looking for it. My one employer told me to pray about it. "I did." They told me that sometimes it takes a while before it can be retrieved. My other employer decided that we all pray together for it right then at the spot. He led the prayer that the key will be retrieve soon, and while he prayed, I begin to understood why God causes this thing to happen to me. His purpose was to unite my two employers and I in prayer, in believing that God answers prayer and that He is awesome. You see? This give glory to His name! Praise God!
.
I will still keep looking for the key all over our house though, and maybe in our car, too. It will not matter to me anymore if I can find it or not, because I know that God is concern about His own credibility, and He'll take care of that. The thing that matters to me most is that the purpose on why this problem occurs is being served to the glory of His holy name.

Happy Valentines Day

As I was making the big sign for our store prior to the Valentine's Day few weeks ago, my boss asked me, "What is the Valentine's Day about?". I was stammering. I can give him answer but I am not sure of the right answer for that question. He then told me about the Valentine's Day 1929 Massacre in Chicago, that the mob were bathed in their own blood which was believed that was led by Al Capone; America's best known gangster and the single greatest symbol of the collapse of law and order in the United States during the 1920s Prohibition era. He lost me there. I was just listening, but I don't understand what it has to do with Valentine's day other than the fact that it happened on Valentine's Day.

Anyhow, whatever is the story behind this Valentine's Day, I am happy that this was created because I believe that some people who were not naturally loving in a daily basis, are trying to show some love on this day just for the sake of it. Knowing that this is a worldwide event, it is a good thing to know that on this day, it is LOVE that prevail everywhere on this earth.

However, sad to say that there are some people behind evil thoughts were trying to spread horrible things on this day, just like this one that I mentioned above. We also have similar stories in the Philippines.

True Grit (2010)

Few weeks ago, my Dad-in-law took us all to a movie theater and he picked "True Grit" for us to watch. Well, you can't complain because it was his treat. On the positive angle, I love country theme movies, and I was not at all bored with the movie. However, the movie ended up great, and we all left happy and satisfied.

Let me give you a brief review about the movie, and maybe it will stir up something in you that will make you decide to watch it anyway. A 14-year old farm girl Mattie Ross was following the murder of her father, and hired Rooster Cogburn, the toughest U.S. marshal she can find to aid her. He is the man with "true grit", whose drinking, sloth, and generally reprobate character do not augment her faith in him. Against his wishes, she joins him in his trek into the Indian Nations in search of Tom Chaney, the man who murdered her father. They are joined by Texas Ranger LaBoeuf, who wants Chaney for his own purposes. The unlikely trio find danger and surprises on the journey, and each has his or her "grit" tested.

One of the things that really impress me with this movie is the very outstanding act of the newcomer Hailee Stenifeld (Mattie Ross). She totally beat out 15,000 other girls in the movie industry . Commentators said that their uses of accents and language is what made the True Grit sounds completely authentic and came up very prominent. To top it all, I also love their soundtrack which is the "Leaning On The Everlasting Arms". I started falling in love with this song when Twila Paris sung this. Of course, they revise it again on this movie, and that was why I had a little doubt when I first heard the instrumental. Although it was only instrumental throughout the show time, but it confirmed itself at the end of the movie, and I believe that it added spice to it.

One more sleep and we will be on our way to car shopping. Yay! This should be fun. I was thinking, if we consider purchasing a new car, then, we should consider, too, getting car insurance. My husband don’t like shopping, either actual or online, and that is why if he needs something, he always buy the first to pop up. It is only a matter of comparing and that is what he hates to do. Well, I guess this is gonna be my task now.

Car Shopping On Friday

Hey! I forgot to post here what happened on that day that I was supposed to either ride a shuttle bus or somebody else will take me to work. Guess what happened, somebody took me to work. It was Ed, my husband’s cousin. I changed my mind about riding a shuttle bus because I was anxious that I will not arrive there at my work on time. Maybe I could, if I will be at the bus stop corner very early; and it made me think of how much time I will be wasting on waiting there at the corner without a shade to cover me from the sun.

I guess I should push my driving class ahead from my other priority list. I don’t like bothering people on giving me rides, although it is fine with them. I have to be able to stand on my own, and I think it is about time that I start doing this. My friend lends me a booklet on driving class, and I am very excited to start reading it. I hope that I will pass the road test and written test right away.

What’s next then? Driver’s license. Purchasing a car. Purchasing car insurance. These expenses don’t seem to stop since the day that I arrived here in USA. In fact, I need to file for removal of condition no later than August on this year. Well, that sounds several months from now. I guess I am right with this decision to push ahead this driving thing, then, I can start shopping around for a car, too.

I heard about this West Palm Beach Acura Dealer which is only 35 miles from our city. I have been told about their low prices in car and varieties of high quality vehicles available. We might go there on this Friday on our way home from Gainesville. This is known to be a best place to shop for new cars or used cars in West Palm Beach; be it a sports car, convertible or any kind of luxury car. This sounds great. It would be convenience for my husband, too, because he is due for his car’s oil change. I hope that it will be a fun day to both of us.

The Green Way To Get Rid Of Our Electronics

It’s my day-off today. Yay! How do I spend it? I usually spend it by going to either Wal-Mart, Home Depot or Target, but because my husband will be in school whole morning and whole evening, I am left with no choice but to stay home whole day. Cleaning… cleaning… cleaning. This is how I suppose to spend this day, but all work without play always makes me bored and unhappy on my day-off. Hey, I’m supposed to enjoy my day-off. That is why I add alternation to it. Clean… Project… Clean… Blog… Clean… Eat… Clean… Play… Clean. This sounds good to me.

To start with, I cleaned the kitchen.

I did my “1 dollar bill token of love” project. I am very happy that it is done. I love it. It has been a while that it was on my “to-do” list, and now I can scratch it off from the list. I’ll show you the picture of it in a little while after I post this. (Oopps. I mean, after another round of cleaning.)

Clean again. I realize that we have a bunch of non-working electronics such as laptop, small television, DVD players, hard drive and sound system that I want to get rid of. It crowded our stockroom. This reminded me that a couple of months ago, a customer talked to me about computer recycling. I was interested for a while because our laptop was not working anymore then, but my concentration at work made it vanish from my mind. I realize I need them now. Well, I am pretty sure that I can find something like their business online, and I did.

Sun Umbrella

My parents-in-law are now home in Michigan. They left yesterday early morning. Tomorrow, my work schedule and my husband's school schedule conflicts (again), and that means he can't take me to work. Should I say that the day has finally come that I have to ride shuttle bus to take me to my work place? I don't know. We will see what will happen tomorrow. We can ask my husband's cousin, Annette, to take me to work though, but deep inside of me is that I really want to try to ride the shuttle bus going to work. I want to be independent. However, I have worries. What if I can't make it on time to my work place? How long do I have to wait on the road (under the sun) before the shuttle bus will pass by? Thinking about the burnt skin I will have made me say "Never mind the shuttle bus. I will ride with Annette." I don't have sun umbrella; and even if I had, I will not feel comfortable using it because nobody does here in Florida. They would think that you are silly for using umbrella against the nice sun rays.

This is something that my husband (and most of the Americans) can't understand. Asians like me don't want to be under the sun. We avoided it as much as possible. Our skin easily get burn and wrinkled from sun exposure. Unlike the fair-skinned Americans, it takes time before we regain our true skin color. That is why, if you go to the Asian country, particularly Philippines and Japan, all women, even men, used sun umbrellas when we go out during the hot day.

Another thing is that American women who have sun-tanned skin symbolizes their social activities in life, while Asians who have fair skin symbolizes higher status in life. The funny thing is that, Americans are trying to fake their skin by going to tanning parlor, while Asians are manipulating their skin by using whitening lotion. Crazy, huh?

Have A Healthy Heart

I am filing for a weekend off from work this week because my husband has a medical appointment at Gainesville on Friday, and we may need to stay in that area overnight. My husband is also setting up our Valentine’s Saturday night somewhere. In other words, we will not be home ‘till Sunday. I am looking forward to these days with excitement. I love traveling and I love spending the weekend with my husband somewhere that we haven’t been to.

Back to his medical appointment; I am glad that my husband is very cautious with his health. He never missed any of his medical appointment which is a very good habit, and when I talk about his health, I can’t help but brought back to my mind his critical condition almost two years ago. He almost had a cardiac arrest that his parents, his sister and I have to watch him 24 hours a day after he was released from the hospital. His sister, who is a nurse, was there to monitor his heart beat and everything. We stayed up late at night and take turn to sleep.

In fact, it is where I find the references for cardiac disease symptoms . Other than that, I also found that the most common cause of heart disease is a narrowing of or blockage in the coronary arteries supplying blood to the heart muscle.

Health is a topic that all of us are involved. You can’t say that you are healthy enough to be exempted to learn something about health. Therefore, I suggest that we should take a regular dose of health news for useful knowledge to have a healthy heart.
