Much of who we are and what we experiences in life is wrapped up in how we relates to our finances. Are we sharing to others or are we stingy? Are we thankful or envious of others? Is money a blessing or a curse? Are we reckless in spending? Are we in agreement on how we spend the money? Nothing puts more pressure on a marriage than financial irresponisbility and huge debt. Only when we recognise that all we have comes from God and seek to make Him Lord over it can we avoid the pitfalls that money or the lack of it brings.
It may not be possible to use prayers to avoid every financial problem all the time because God sometimes uses finances to get our attention and teach us things. But our prayers will certainly help protect our marriage from unnecessary struggle and loss. God's desire is to bless those who have obedient, grateful and giving heart, whose true treasure is in the Lord. "Where your treasure is, there you heart will be also." Matthew 6:21
