Human Beings Are Made To Rule The Universe

1st Sunday of the year 2010, we were not able to go to church because my husband was not feeling good. I had decided to just come online to listen to the uploaded sermon of our church in Cebu City, Philippines, which is the Living Word Christian Ministries. The title of the sermon that I was listening to was "Man, The Crown of God's Affection", delivered by Bro. Mel Caparros on July 28, 2009.

He was sharing a glimpse on how big our universe is. Look at the image #1, you can see that the planet Earth is bigger among 5 other planets. Pluto, now considered a dwarf planet as noted in the image at left. You can see why Venus is considered Earth’s ‘sister planet’ as they are similar in size. But take a look at this image #2, it has all nine planets in our solar system somewhat to scale. Can you find where is the planet Earth? If you need help, I'll tell you that it is in the left side, among the lowest row. Well, this is not a surprise to many of us though.

What about this image #3, I can hardly see our planet Earth there. Hmm... We all know that Sun is waaaay bigger than all these planets, but I never thought the Earth would like that small.

But I am not done there... look at this images #4. This is awesome! Can you see the Sun? It now becomes the smallest star among these other stars. As we all know that the Sun is one of the few largest stars in the universe. The scale is fairly astounding in this view, what do you think? Note the size of ‘giant’ Jupiter (only 1 pixel in this perspective)… And Earth wouldn’t even register on this scale…
And for this image #5, this is totally breath-taking. The Sun has now become just 1 pixel in size. Isn't that marvelous? These image are taken from Kiro Astro .
This fact help us to realize how big our God is, yet... in Psalm 8, you will find that God's heart is on us, human beings. Read this whole chapter to help you understand God's love on us.
"LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens. Through the praise of children and infants you have established a stronghold against your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger. When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what are mere mortals that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? You have made them a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned them with glory and honor. You made them rulers over the works of your hands; you put everything under their feet: all flocks and herds, and the animals of the wild, the birds in the sky, and the fish in the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas. LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!" Psalm 8 (NIV)
