Time For Static Shock Again

The temperature this morning was around 40's. Today was the first blow of the winter; and the weatherman said that it will stay this way for a couple of days and will be back to around 80's again. It was really cold today that I wished I was wearing a sweater when we went to visit Aunt Kathy this afternoon. But Aunt Kathy was so kind that she let me used her sweater while we were outside.
.
Then, Michelle came to my mind. She is our Filipina friend and this is her first winter here in USA. So, I sent her text message via my cellphone, asking her how she was doing. She told me that she was cold and had to wear 3 layers of clothing. I smiled to myself because I can relate to it.
.
The thing that I don't like about winter is the static shock. I hate it very much. I had it all the time throughout winter season and on almost every metal that I touched. Even touching my husband's arm gave me static shock, too. It made me jumped and screamed a lot, especially coming out from the car. I felt so miserable.
.
I was doing the laundry this afternoon; touched the laundry cart... ZAP! Touched the dryer plate... ZAP! Touched the door knob... ZAP! "Honey, I can't use my hands anymore!" I shouted from the bedroom. "You'll get used to it, honey" was my husband's reply. "Yeah, right. It is my third winter and did I get used to it?"
.
According to my research, the explanation of this is that a static charge builds up when the air is very dry and it happens on winter. During the summer, the air is more humid. The water in the air helps electrons move off you more quickly, so you can not build up as big a static charge.
.
I still love winter though. :)
