I Am A "Fili-Billy"

My mom-in-law and dad-in-law love to tease me for being a "Fili-Billy". They love the sound of it. They love spreading the humorous rumors about it. "Fili-Billy" is their own invented word which means I am a "Filipino" and "Hillbilly" in one word. They consider themselves being a "Hillbilly" because they came from the south.
.
"Filipino" people refers to nationals of the Republic of the Philippines and to persons having Filipino ancestry. The name Filipino was derived from king Philip II of Spain, the Spanish name given to the Philippines in the 16th century, by Spanish explorer Ruy López de Villalobos. There are about 92 million Filipinos in the Philippinesand about 11 million outside the Philippines.
.
"Hillbilly" is a term referring to people who dwell in rural, mountainous areas of the United States, primarily Appalachia and the Ozarks. Due to its strongly stereotypical connotations, the term is frequently considered derogatory, and so is usually offensive to those Americans of Ozarkan and Appalachian heritage. However, the term is also used in celebration of their culture by mountain people themselves. Such co-opting and neutralizing use is almost exclusively reserved for Appalachian people themselves. Such people consider the term "Hillbilly" to be a descriptive term lumping all such inhabitants together in a single ethnic group similar to the term Cajun as a description of a uniquely American ethnic group.
