ROY... You are beautiful!

I was doing the paperwork at the store this morning, and I happened to look outside through the glass and I saw ROY (G. BIB). I was in awe of its beauty. I ran to the office to grab my camera and was very glad that it did not go away, that I was still able to catch its beauty through my camera. It was raining few minutes earlier, and that's how its beauty became more amazing, reminding people that there is a rainbow (or two) after the rain. Yeah, there were times that I saw a couple of rainbows perfectly collided to each other. It was beautiful.

This rainbow reminded me that I can start anew with my life... my priorities... and everything else that are messed up lately. I admit that I was so carried away lately with my work that all the other areas in my life were falling. But the good thing is, the Holy Spirit never fails to remind me on how I ought to live... and with the grace of God, here I am, back on the track. Thank you, Lord... and thank you for the rainbow that you used as an instrument to bring realization to my mind.

The Big And The Little Dipper

We were out shrimping again last night because as Orville said, when there's storm around, it is the best time for shrimping. Indeed, we were not disappointed, we caught a whole bunch of shrimps that were more than enough for five people.

Plus, I had my crab again... and this time, there were two fishes in the trap, too. As usual, I had the crab and the two fishes all by myself because nobody else want it. I enjoyed my breakfast with the sauteed crab and the fried fishes this morning.

Back to last night activity, right from our location while we were shrimping, we saw the rocket that was ready to launch anytime at Kennedy Space Center, Cape Canaveral, it was ready that the all lights were up like a giant flourescent from a distance, but because of the stormy weather last night, they had to postpone it.

My husband pointed to me the "big dipper" and was trying to find the "little dipper"... everybody else helped finding the "little dipper", too. They were trying to explain to me these stars. The Big Dipper and Little Dipper are part of the constellations of Ursa Major and Ursa Minor respectively. I think I have seen these stars back in the Philippines, too, and I just didn't took notice of it.

Mango And Banana Surprise

I was reading my book this afternoon, my eyes were wandering outside the window, it took a while before I realized that I saw something that should excite me... I saw a big mango fruit hanging down its bough. I rushed out from the apartment and there I saw that the mango tree was really not a big tree. The mango is big enough that I thought it should be ready to pick. I asked my husband to whom does the mango tree belong. I guess the owner of that short mango tree should pick up that fruit before anybody else do.

When I turned around after taking picture of the mango tree, I was struck by another surprise. There in front of me was the short banana tree. But there was no fruit on it yet. Wow! I feel like I am in the Philippines.

Flower Of The Week #2-Forget-Me-Nots

Being here in USA is a privilege to see all the beautiful flowers that are not available in my country, Philippines. I love flowers very much. My mother does, too. I want to make a photo collection of them starting this day. I will be posting the "Flower of the Week every Friday. These flowers will either be from our garden or from somewhere that I will have PERSONAL ENCOUNTER to... and definitely, they will be from my camera, too.

This is my husband's favorite flower, "Forget-Me-Nots". This was his gift to his mom on one occasion. He used to say that when you receive this flower, it will make you not forget the person that give this flower. Aren't they beautiful?

Myosotis (generic name) means "mouse's ear", (after the shape of the leaf) is a genus of flowering plants in the family Boraginaceae that are commonly called "Forget-me-nots". There are approximately fifty species in the genus, with much variation. A considerable number of the species have small (1 cm diameter or less) rather flat, 5-petalled blue flowers growing profusely on straggly stems, flowering in spring and all summer. The seed pods and some seeds will fall out. In the United States, Myosotis alpestris is the state flower of Alaska.

Although some people don't like these flowers because they consider these as nothing but weeds; for me, these are still flowers. Dandelion is the first flower that I saw sprung up around our lawn, and that made it gain the privilege to become the first flower that I will post here in this weekly meme.

From the generic name, Taraxacum, Dandelion is a large genus of flowering plants in the family Asteraceae. They are native to Europe, North America and Asia and two species, T. officinale and T. erythrospermum, are found as weeds worldwide. The common name Dandelion is given to members of the genus and like other members of the Asteraceae family, they have very small flowers collected together into a composite flower head. Each single flower in a head is called a floret. The leaves are 5–25 cm long or longer, simple and basal, entire or lobed, forming a rosette above the central taproot. The flower heads are yellow to orange colored, and are open in the daytime but closed at night. The heads are borne singly on a hollow stem (scape) which rises 4–75 cm above the leaves and exudes a milky sap (latex) when broken. A rosette may produce several flowering stems at a time. The flower heads are 2–5 cm in diameter and consists entirely of ray florets.

My dad-in-law was excited the other day because he had spotted a hummingbird on the pear tree. He then took out the hummingbird feeder and poured some water on it. I used to ask where the birds go during winter time, the answer was that they migrate to other country. They can hover in mid-air by rapidly flapping their wings for 12–90 times per second (depending on the species). Ain’t that amazing? They can also fly backwards, and are the only group of birds able to do so. Their English name derives from the characteristic hum made by their rapid wing beats. They can fly at speeds exceeding 15 m/s (54 km/h; 34 mph. That’s what made this little bird amazing.

Giant Aquarium

This picture was taken in one of the big mall in Merritt Island, Florida, during our two weeks’ vacation there. All items there are anything that has to do with swimming, diving or surfing. That is obviously the city’s main business. This giant aquarium is located inside that mall. Actually, there is a man with oxygen inside that aquarium for the maintenance. There were hundreds of saltwater fish of different kind in it. It was really awesome to look at.

Twilight Time

Few days ago, as I was doing the dishes, I was fascinated at what I saw over the window. It was a breath-taking light of the moon. I ran to my bedroom to get my camera and went outside to get a nice shot of this. This is what was very popularly called the "Twilight Time". But let me say, it was more awesome looking through your naked eyes than through my camera lenses. It was bigger, like when you are looking at a serving plate just right in front of your face. But my camera don't capture it. I don't know why it looks just like a dot. :(

Talking about "Twilight Time", this is the title of the song that I like so much, that was one of the big hits by "The Platters". They were very popular during my father's time. Actually, I like most of their songs and of course, the best thing that plays the role is their golden voices. My father used to collect records of them and listening to their songs; wow! I just feel so enchanted.

Sing Your Song

When I was still in the Philippines, I love the way how I woke up every morning. Birds would gather near our window and start singing. It is very pleasant to my ears. The beautiful part of it is that hearing another birds from a distant responding, too.

Birds sing because they have a syrinx instead of a larynx. The syrinx is the bird's voice box, an organ that lies deep in a bird's chest and is uniquely fashioned for song. That, at least, is the natural explanation for their gift.

But let me ask you, why do birds sing? Because their Creator put a song in their hearts. Each bird is "heaven's high and holy muse," created to draw our hearts up to our Creator. They are reminders that He has given us a song that we may sing His praise.

So when you hear God's little hymn-birds singing their hearts out, remember to sing your own song of thanksgiving, too. Lift up your voice to our Creator.
